Justice for Jamie Chipowsky

South Dakota mother exonerated after years of wrongful accusations

Mother Cleared of Wrongdoing After New Evidence Surfaces

In a landmark decision, Jamie Lynn Chipowsky has been officially exonerated of all charges related to child neglect, abuse, and kidnapping—charges that for years cast a shadow over her life and separated her from her two children, Gabriel and Trinity.

The case drew national attention after newly discovered evidence revealed critical inconsistencies and previously suppressed documentation that contradicted the prosecution’s narrative. Advocates say the ruling underscores long-standing concerns about due-process violations within the child-protection and family-court systems.

“For years, I lived with the world believing my mom was a criminal. Deep down, I always knew she wasn’t,” said Trinity Marie Chipowsky, Jamie’s daughter. “They took me from her when I was little, saying she was dangerous—but all she ever did was fight to get us back. Seeing her name cleared now feels like the truth finally caught up.”

Years of Separation and Resilience

Records show Jamie Chipowsky was imprisoned under charges that have now been found to be based on false testimony and procedural errors. During her incarceration, her children were placed in foster care. Trinity recalls the confusion and pain of being told her mother had “kidnapped” her:

“They said my mom had kidnapped me—but how do you kidnap your own child? I remember being in a strange place, scared, and wondering why no one would let me talk to her,” Trinity shared.

According to legal experts, suppressed CPS reports and omitted witness statements later surfaced, showing that Jamie had acted within her parental rights and that the investigation against her was driven by administrative error and miscommunication between agencies.

Vindication and Moving Forward

The court’s reversal restores full custody rights and expunges Jamie’s record. Her attorney described the verdict as “a monumental correction of a miscarriage of justice.”

“This isn’t just my mom’s victory—it’s a message to every parent who’s ever been silenced or misjudged,” Trinity said. “I want people to know the system can be wrong. It almost destroyed us. But now, we can finally start over.”

Jamie’s case is now cited by reform advocates calling for transparency and independent oversight in CPS investigations.

Public Response

Supporters have rallied online under hashtags such as #JusticeForJamie and #TruthForTrinity, sharing stories of family reunification and systemic reform. Advocacy groups have praised the courage of the Chipowsky family in pursuing justice despite years of hardship.
